Statoil relinquishes Halmahera II block

Norwegian firm Statoil has made a request to relinquish the Halmahera II block in Maluku Utara regency, according to a senior official of the firm.

?We submitted the request for the relinquishment to SKK Migas (upstream authority) on May 12,? the company?s Exploration Manager Christian Zwach told Petromindo.com.

He added that the request is currently being processed by SKK Migas.

Statoil is the operator of the Halmahera II block with an 80 percent of working interest, while Niko Resources holds the remaining 20 percent. The block covers more than 8,000 sq km in eastern Indonesia.
