Statoil to carry out 2D seismic in Halmahera II block

Norwegian oil and gas firm Statoil plans to carry out 2D seismic activity in Halmahera II oil and gas block in the first quarter of 2013, a source at upstream authority BPMIGAS told Petromindo.com Thursday.
The source did not provide details.
Statoil holds an 80 percent interest in the large offshore exploration license in eastern Indonesia. The remainder 20 percent is held by Niko Resources. The Norwegian oil and gas giant was awarded the operatorship of the Halmahera II block, which covers an area of over 8,000 sqkm, in November 2011.
