Straits Asia?s 2009 coal sales increase

Straits Asia Resources Limited, the subsidiary of Australian listed mining firm Straits Resources Ltd, produced 8.5 million tons of coal in 2009, unchanged from the 2008 coal production, but its sales increased
Stratis Asia sold 9.2 million tons last year, up from 8.58 million tons in the previous year, Straits Resources said.
Straits Asia is currently producing coal from its two mines namely PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku in South Kalimantan and PT Jembayan Muara Bara in East Kalimantan.
Straits Asia?s coal production target for 2009 was between 9 million and 11 milion tons. This year, the firm has targeted to produce around 12 million tons.
Straits Resources has an indirect 18.2% interest in Straits Asia, which is listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. (denny).
