Straits commissioning Jembayan capacity expansion

Singapore Exchange-listed coal mining firm Straits Asia Resources Limited reported on Thursday it was currently commissioning capacity expansion of its Jembayan mine in East Kalimantan to double to 11 million tonnes per annum.
The company said expansion of coal processing and barge loading facilities (capacity 1,800 tonnes per hour) has been commissioned and mining contractor Pamapersada Nusantara is adding more equipment to the fleet. The mine will have crushing capacity of 11MTPA and Crushing capacity of 11MTPA and barge loading conveyors of 15MTPA.
The company said the recently launched Straits Phoenix crane barge will be operational shortly at Jembayan. The vessel has capacity to transship up to 20,000 tonnes of coal per day to ocean vessels.
Straits also operates another producing coal mine at Sebuku island, South Kalimantan, which capacity is being expanded to 8MTPA pending forestry issues. (denny)
