Straits expects 2011 higher coal output, price

Singapore-listed coal miner Straits Asia Resources Limited is expected to produce 11.5 million tonnes this year, up by around 1 million tonnes compared to the last year?s production of 10.55 million tonnes.
The company?s coal production is sourced from its two coal mines, Jembayan mine in East Kalimantan and Sebuku mine in South Kalimantan, the firm said in early March.
The company said in a presentation material that the selling price for this year is estimated to average around US$80-85 per tonne, up from last year?s $72.81 per tonne.
Straits did not give a breakdown of production and average selling price figure for both mines.
For 2010 coal production, Jembayan produced 9.45 million tonnes and 1.1 million tonnes from Sebuku mine. (denny)
