ASX-listed mining firm Straits Resources Limited said on Tuesday its Singapore Exchange-listed subsidiary Straits Asia Resources Limited is eyeing production of 20 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in ?medium term? from its two producing mines in Indonesia.
CEO Milan Jerkovic said the production would be split roughly evenly between Jembayan Muarabara mine in East Kalimantan and Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku mine in South Kalimantan.
?The infrastructure required to deliver that sort of volume will be in place by the middle of calendar 2009 and we are working on our reserve numbers, mine plan and working capital requirements ahead of the ramp up in production levels,? he said.
He did not give detailed time frame for the expansion.
The company is targeting to produce 11 million tonnes in 2010 from the two mines. (denny)
