Straits reports Q1 gold production from C. Kalimantan mine

Australian miner Straits Resources Limited reported on Thursday that first quarter gold production from Mount Muro mine in central Kalimantan reached 10,840 gold equivalent ounce . Previous quarter?s production from Mount Muro was 7,158 gold equivalent ounces.

The company recommenced production from Mount Muro after being shut down for several year by previous owner June last year.

The company said that following the opening up of the Botol vein in December 2005, mining was gradually ramped up from this source supplemented by near-mine deposits and low grade stockpiles.

The processing plant treated 118,000 tones of ore during the quarter via a single ball mill.

Strait expects to produce between 80,000-100,000 gold equivalent ounces from Mount Muro this year.

Straits has 100 percent stake in Mount Muro mine. (alex)
