Straits says to produce 16-18MT of coal in 2013

Singapore-listed coal miner Straits Asia Resources Limited plans to boost its Indonesian coal production to 16-18 million tons (MT) in 2013 from this year?s target of 12 MT.

Strait said in the presentation on Monday that the production target in 2013 would come from its Jembayan Muara Bara mine in East Kalimantan and Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku mine in South Kalimantan. The company did not give details.

This year, the firm has targeted to produce around 12 MT. Until the end of June 2010, Straits has produced 5.0 MT.

It sold a combined 9.2 MT of coal produced by both mines last year, up from 8.58 MT in 2008.(denny).
