Strategic Marine to build offshore service vessels for Buruna Raya

Indonesian firm Buruna Raya Logistics has signed an order with Singaporean firm Strategic Marine for three 31-m (102 ft) offshore service vessels (OSVs).
Powered by three Cummins KTA 38 engines providing a combined 3,600 bhp, each of the vessels will be capable of travelling at a maximum speed of 27 knots, Strategic said in statement.
According to Strategic, each vessel will have 50 seats for passengers, provide accommodation for a crew of eight, and carry up to 134 metric tons (147.7 tons) of cargo on a 67 sq m (721 sq ft) cargo deck area.
The vessels are to be built in Strategic Marine's Singapore facility, with pre-fabrication work done at the Australian Marine Complex in Western Australian.
Delivery of the third hull is scheduled for Feb. 2009. (denny)
