Some 200 workers of PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia, the contractor of coal mining giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), continued on Wednesday their second day strike in Sangatta, East Kalimantan.
But KPC spokesman Bambang Susanto expected today?s negotiation could work positively to lead to an end of the strike which has affected KPC?s coal production.
The workers have demanded Thies to pay compensation for part extra working hours.
Bambang said earlier on Tuesday that the labor strike had cost KPC some 9,000 tons of coal per day. Normally KPC produces some 50,000 tons of coal per day.
Thiess, along with PT Pamapersada Nusantara and PT Petrosea are KPC?s mining contractors.(Godang)
