Subsidized fuel consumption 3% above target

Realized consumption of subsidized fuel reached 41.69 million kiloliters in 2011, about 3 percent above the 40.36 million kl stated in the revised 2011 state budget.

According to new data issued on Jan. 2, which has not been verified by BP Migas and BPH Migas, the realized consumption of subsidized fuel last year consisted of 25.49 million kl of Premium gasoline, 14.49 million kl of diesel and 1.69 million kl of kerosene.

The subsidized fuel quota stated in the revised 2011 state budget comprised 24.51 million kl of Premium gasoline, 14.06 million kl of diesel and 1.8 million kl of kerosene.

Pertamina and related agencies had estimated that the realized consumption of subsidized fuel would reach 41.91 million kl in 2011, or 1.55 million kl above the quota. The amount comprised 25.57 million kl of Premium, 1.70 million of kerosene and 14.64 million of diesel. "However, the realized consumption of subsidized fuel in 2011 was 220,000 kl lower than the estimate,? Pertamina?s spokesman Mochamad Harun said.

Six provinces which received higher than their quota included West Java, East Java, Central Java, Jakarta, North Sumtara and Banten. The realized consumption in Banten reached 7.2 percent above the quota, Jakarta 6.5 percent above the quota, West Java 5,2 percent above the quota, Central Java 4,2 percent above the quota, East Java 3,8 percent, and North Sumatera 3.3 percent above the quota.
