Consultancy firm PT Sucofindo offered on Wednesday its expertise to supervise coal production process in East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, and to estimate the real coal output in the area.

This will in turn allow the regency administration to better calculate its coal royalty revenue.

The local Kaltim Post daily said that Sucofindo president Safaritan made the proposal during a presentation meeting at the East Kutai regency administration building.

Safaritan said that Sucofindo had been doing this kind of work since 1976.

There are three large coal mining companies operating in East Kutai including PT Kaltim Prima Coal (which according to Sucofindo data has an annual coal production of 17 million tons), PT Indominco (3 million tons), and PT Kitadin (1 million tons).
