The government of Sudan is offering investment opportunities to Indonesia’s oil and gas companies with a production sharing of 50 percent – 50 percent between contractor and the owner of the oil and gas field, the Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported in its Thursday edition.

House of Representatives’ deputy speaker A.M. Fatwa said the offer was made by the Sudanese government during his recent visit to that country. Sudan has several oil and gas fields, which are yet to be tapped. That’s why the government wants to give incentives to the new investors.

“Sudanese government wants to invite Indonesian companies like Pertamina and private company belonging to Arifin Panigoro, Medco Energy, to invest in that country,” Fatwa said after he met President Megawati Soekarnoputri at the State Palace on Wednesday.

According to Fatwa, Sudan has very limited manpower in compare to the vast natural resources.

That’s why, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro will soon facilitate a meeting between the Indonesian companies and the Sudanese government, Fatwa said. (*)
