Suek eyeing coal mine acquisition, looking for coal suppliers

Russian coal producer and trader Suek AG is looking to acquire coal mines in Indonesia as well as securing coal supply from Indonesian mines/suppliers.

?Suek is focusing to acquire concessions in South Kalimantan and South Sumatra area,? Agustin Fadjar, Indonesia Chief Representative told Petromindo.Com on a sideline of McCloskey Asia Pacific Coal Outlook Conference 2009 in Bali on Wednesday.

Agustin said thus far the company has yet secured firm deal and welcomed those who are interested to sell their mines to Suek or to supply coal to the company.

He said Suek is loking for mines that could produce 1-2 million tonnes of coal per annum with minebale reserves of around 20 million tonnes and and least in near production stage. The company also requires coal with minimum CV of 6,300 Kcal/kg (ADB).

According to Agustin, this year Suek trades 500,000 tonnes of Indonesian coal and is looking to double the volume next year. He said current Suel coal suppliers included state coal mining firm PTBA and Kideco Jaya Agung.
