The North Sulawesi and Gorontalo (Sulutgo) power system now has a power reserves capacity of 170 MW, following the full operation of two new power plants in recent months, state-owned electricty firm PT PLN said in a statement Sunday.
The statement said that the recently operated power plants included the Marine Vessel Power Plant (MVPP) Zeynep Sultan in Amurang, North Sulawesi, with a capacity of 120 MW, and the Gorontalo Peaker gas engine power plant with capacity of 100 MW.
Prior to the operations of the two power plants, the Sulugo grid suffered a power deficit of up to 50 MW with peak load of 325 MW.
PLN said that the electricity reserves should help attract fresh investment into the two provinces of North Sulawesi and Gorontalo.
