Sumalindo expands into coal mining business

IDX-listed forestry firm PT Sumalindo Lestari Jaya Tbk reported on Thursday that it has expanded business into coal mining to exploit potential at its huge forestry concession in East Kalimantan and to secure coal supply for its power plant.
The company said that it will seek opportunity in mining business within and outside its forestry concession through its new subsidiary PT Suli Inti Resources.
The company through its unit PT Kalimantan Powerindo is also running a power plant, which excess capacity is sold to East Kalimantan branch of state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero).
