ASX-listed Sumatra Copper & Gold plc announced Monday that it has appointed Rob Gregory to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective July 1, 2016, replacing Don Harper, who has resigned and will complete an orderly handover of duties during July.
The company said in a statement that Harper during his 4 years of service had overseen the completion of feasibility studies for the company's Tembang Gold-Silver operation in Sumatra, Indonesia, and transitioning Tembang into operation.
Gregory, an Australian mining engineer, is an experienced manager of mining operations in a number of jurisdictions including Indonesia, most recently as Chief Operating Officer at Medusa's Philippine operations where he was instrumental in increasing production levels and underground mine productivity. His focus will be to bolster productivity at Tembang particularly from the Belinau underground mine, the production from which is the main driver of grade delivered to the mill.
