State-controlled construction company PT Adhi Karya Tbk said construction of the 3x7 MW Sungai Ringin coal-fired power plant in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan, has covered about 70 percent of the targeted works, and is on track to be completed by end of this year.

The company is the main developer of the project. Project Supervisor Alfianda Chandra was quoted by local media as saying that the developer is now waiting for arrival of the turbine.

State owned electricity firm PT. PLN said the operation of the coal fired power plant will reduce cost in the provision of electricity in the region by using coal as feed instead of the more expensive diesel fuel.

The Rp 357 billion plant will require about 181,332 tons coal per year. (*)
