PT Supreme Energy said that it had to postpone geothermal drilling in Muara Laboh, West Sumatra, due to heavy rainfalls in the area.
?Previously, we?ve planned to conduct the drilling in June or in August this year at the latest. But because of incessant rainfalls, we have to postpone it,? Supreme Energy President Director Supramu Santoso told OGE Asia and Petromindo.com in Jakarta.
Besides the geothermal project in Muara Laboh, the company has other two geothermal projects, namely in Ranto Dadap, South Sumatera, and Rajabasa, Lampung, which respectively will have a power generation capacity of between 200 and 300 MW.
The three geothermal projects will need a total investment of US$250 million, or more than US$80 million for each of them.
Supramu noted that all local administration officials in the three provinces support his company?s geothermal power business. ?They are all helpful, particularly in the process of land clearings and the transportation of all necessary equipment for the projects,? he said.
