PT Supreme Energy said it will begin the construction of supporting infrastructure for the geothermal power plant PLTP Muara Laboh in West Sumatra in April, and later followed by works on PLTP Rajabasa in Lampung, company President Director Supramu Santosa said.

He said the company will begin constructing road access to the geothermal concession area in April, expecting it to complete in early August. This will be followed by exploration wells drilling activities sometimes in late July or early August.

?We may begin conducting the drilling activities in July or mid August,? Supramu told Petromindo.com. He made the statement after securing the Government Guarantee letter for the two geothermal power plant projects last Friday.

Both PLTP Muara Laboh and PLTP Rajabasa will have capacity of 220 MW (2x110 MW) each. Both geothermal power plants are expected to commence operation in 2016, said Supramu.

He said that Supreme Energy will initially drill 4-5 wells. If successful, the company will drill up to 20 wells in each project.

The company plans to spend US$100 million for exploration in each project. ?We will use internal cash to finance exploration activities,? he said.

The total investment to develop the two power plants until they are ready for commercial operations are estimated to reach US$1.4 billion, said Supramu.
