Supreme Energy to build three geothermal power plants

PT Supreme Energy plans to develop three geothermal power plants each with a capacity of 200-300 MW in Muara Laboh, West Sumatra; Ranto Dadap, South Sumatra; and Rajabasa in Lampung, Investor Daily Reported on Friday.

CEO of Supreme Energy Triharyo Indrawan Soesilo said on Thursday that the three locations contain huge geothermal potential.

The company will conduct drilling work in Muara Laboh starting August 2012, followed by similar work in Ranto Dadap and Rajabasa.

Triharyo said that the investment for the exploration work at the three location reached US$25 million, or about $8 million at each location.

He expected drilling at Muara Laboh to be completed at the end of 2014, and in Ranto Dadap and Rajabasa the following year.

For the development of the Muara Laboh and Rajabasa power plants, the company team up with Sumitomo Corp and France-based investor GDF Suez. For the construction of the Rantau Dadap plant, Supreme Energy will work together with GDF Suez, Triharyo said. (*)
