Supreme Energy to drill geothermal wells at Rantau Dadap next month

Indonesian geothermal developer PT Supreme Energy plans to drill 4-6 geothermal exploration wells at Rantau Dadap, South Sumatra, in early February, Kontan daily reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Priyandaru Effendi, a senior official at the firm, as saying that total investment for the exploration work which includes construction of road and drilling facilities is estimated at US$150 million. The company will engage PT Leighton Contractors Indonesia in the construction of road and facilities at the drilling location.

He said that if the exploration program is successful, Supreme will start development of a planned 2x110 MW geothermal power plant. ?We have yet to assign contractor for the power plant,? he said, adding that the plant is expected to be completed in 2018.

The geothermal project in Rantau Dedap is developed by a consortium of companies consisting of PT Supreme Energy, GDF Suez and Marubeni Corporation. (*)
