PT. Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state electricity company PLN, said on Monday routine shutdown at its third power plant Suralaya 3 in Suralaya, Banten province is expected to be completed on April 29.

?The maintenance goes smoothly, it is expected that Suralaya 3 to resume normal operations April 30,? said Bambang Istiedi, Indonesia Power?s director.

Suralaya is the country?s largest power plant complex, operating 4x400 MW and 3x600 MW coal-fired power plants.

Bambang said currently Suralaya?s coal stockpile was around 670,000 tons, sufficient for 25 days of operations. ?Optimum level of stock for Suralaya is 20 days, therefore we are slowing down coal purchasing,? said Bambang.

Suralaya sources most of its coal from state coal miner PT. Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam, Kideco Jaya Agung, Arutmin Indonesia, and Berau Coal. (arry)
