?Currently, we ship Suralaya only about 45,000 tons per month for one year contract,? Berau Coal?s corporate secretary Ratmono Ratmansunu told Petromindo.Com.
Meanwhile, South Kalimantan-based coal producer PT Adaro Indonesia said it would deliver 45,000 tons of coal to Suralaya power plant in February.
?We have arranged one ship for them (Suralaya) this month, but we can not send more later since our shipment had already been arranged for our traditional buyers,? Adaro?s administration manager Bambang Priyadi said Wednesday.
The 3,400-megawatt Suralaya power plant is in serious coal-supply problem as state coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) was forced to cut supply to Suralaya due to transportation problem.
PT Indonesia Power, the power plant?s operator, has said around 950,000 tons of coal per month is required to fuel the 3,400-megawatt power plant.
Earlier, a government official said over the February-April period, Suralaya would get a total of around 1.7 million tons of coal from Adaro, Arutmin, Kideco and Berau Coal, while PTBA would provide for the power plant with around 1.2 million tons.
Another South Kalimantan-based coal producer PT Arutmin Indonesia has dispatched a handymax vessel of coal for trial shipment to the power plant. ?Arutmin is looking to get 2-3 million tons per annum deal,? Arutmin president Ari S. Hudaya said earlier.
Ari said both Indonesia Power and Arutmin would further negotiate contract terms if the trial shipment meets Suralaya?s coal specification.
Meanwhile, Kideco is also in talks with Indonesia Power to increase coal supply from 2 million tons under the existing contract to around 2.5 million tons this year.
?Kideco is able to immediately increase its supply from around 180,000 tons per month to 230,000 immediately to help meet Suralaya's coal requirement,? said Kideco managing director Kim Sung Kook. (godang)
