"The supply of power to the Java and Bali power interconnection has been normal again. We even have power reserves of about 700 and 900 MW," Muldjo Adji AG, the head of the power traffic control of the state-owned electricity company PLN, said on Saturday.
A leakage occurred in one of the pipes connected to the boiler in one of the Suralaya plant's generator units on Thursday, resulting a decline in the power supply from the power plant by between 200 and 250 MW.
The Suralaya power plant, which has seven power generators units, produces about 3,400 MW of power supply, or about 25 percent of the total power supply in the Java-Bali interconnection grid.
Muldjo said that PLN would optimize the operation of large scale power plants such as Suralaya, Paiton, Muara Tawar and Muara Karang Karang to cope with the decline in the supply from hydro power plants during the peak of the dry season in October. (*)
