PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (SURGE) (IDX: WIFI) and Wuhan FiberHome International Technologies Co. Ltd. have signed a strategic partnership agreement to deploy what they described as the world’s first commercial 5G fixed wireless access solution using the 1.4 GHz spectrum band.
The agreement was signed at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona and aims to support expansion of affordable broadband access in Indonesia.
SURGE, through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, launched a commercial 5G FWA 1.4 GHz service branded “IRA – Internet Rakyat” on Feb. 19, 2026.
The service offers fixed broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps with unlimited data at a monthly price of Rp100,000, or about $6, including free modem rental.

Under the partnership, FiberHome will provide network technology to support the 5G FWA deployment, which allows broadband services to be delivered without extensive cable infrastructure.
The companies said the collaboration aims to accelerate broadband penetration and support digital connectivity across Indonesia, particularly in regions including Java, Maluku and Papua.
SURGE is an Indonesian digital infrastructure company that develops fiber networks and broadband services, while FiberHome is a global telecommunications equipment provider specializing in optical communications, wireless networks and data networking technologies.
