Indonesian digital infrastructure firm PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (IDX: WIFI), known as SURGE, said it has partnered with China-based Shenzhen Wewins Wireless Co., Ltd. to supply customer premises equipment (CPE) devices for its 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) broadband service in Indonesia.
The equipment will support the rollout of SURGE’s “IRA – Internet Rakyat” service, which the company says is the world’s first commercial 5G FWA network operating on the 1.4 GHz spectrum band.
The service, launched on Feb. 19, offers fixed broadband speeds of up to 100 megabits per second for Rp100,000 (about $6) per month with unlimited data and free modem rental, targeting households and small businesses.
SURGE said Wewins will supply carrier-grade 5G FWA devices designed to operate on the 1.4 GHz spectrum band, with features aimed at ensuring strong indoor signal penetration, stable network performance and plug-and-play installation for residential users.
The partnership supports the nationwide rollout of the IRA service, which aims to expand affordable broadband access using wireless technology rather than extensive fiber-optic infrastructure.

SURGE obtained the 1.4 GHz spectrum for Region 1 through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama following Indonesia’s broadband wireless access frequency auction. Region 1 covers Java, Maluku and Papua.
Director of PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk and President Director of PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, Shannedy Ong, said the partnership with Wewins will help ensure the reliability and scalability of the service as it expands.
“With IRA – Internet Rakyat now commercially available, our priority is scale, reliability and affordability,” Ong said in a statement.
Wewins Chief Executive Officer William Wu said the company’s devices are designed to support large-scale fixed wireless broadband deployment and help connect households across Indonesia.
The companies said the collaboration is part of efforts to expand digital connectivity and support Indonesia’s broader digital transformation and internet access goals.
