Surna to be appointed as director general for general mining

Dr Ir. Surna Tjahja Djajadiningrat, currenly an expert staff of Minister of Mines and Energy will be appointed to fill the vacant position of the director general for general mining at the ministry, sources said.

Sources said that the decree on the appointment of Surna Djayaningrate had been signed by Minister Susilo

Bambang Yudohoyono before he left for his haj pilgrimage to Mecca.

"I think Surna will be appointed immediately after the minister returns from his haj pilgrimage," the source said, adding that rumors about the appointment of Surna as the director general for the general mining had been widely circulated within the ministry.

He stressed that it was certain Surana would take the vacant position but the official announcement would be made only after the minister returned home.

The position was held by Rozil Boedioro but it was left vacant since the later was appointed by President

Abdurrahman Wahid as the state minister for public works. (*)
