Suryamas to raise coal production

Wednesday, March 22 2000 - 02:30 AM WIB

PT Surya Mas Penanjung (SMP), a coal mining company owned by South Korean companies, will boost its annual production capacity at its mining site in Bengkulu to 1 million tons.

Gill Yung Chun, a director of the company, said SMP, which controls 1,700-hectare coal mining concession in the province, had siginificant oil reserves to meet the production target.

He said that the company, which at present exports most of its coal products to South Asia and Japan, would face no problem to market the additional coal production due to an increase in the demand from overseas buyers.

"We don't have a problem to find new market because at present we could not fulfill the order," he said. (*)
