President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will ask his economic team to review the existing tax system and oil and gas policies in order to boost investment in the oil and gas sector, the Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported in its Monday edition.
This was disclosed by President Susilo in an opening speech at the International Investment Bimasena Mines and Energy Society Conference 2004 in Jakarta on Sunday night.
“ I will ask several related ministers to pay attention on this issue and remove problematic rules so that the investment in the oil and gas (sector) can be increased,” Susilo said.
Recently, several American investors have asked the government to revise the tax policy to allow them to resume badly needed investment in the sector.(*)
