The Tabalong district administration will proceed with the plans to develop railway for transporting coal although it has not received the "green light" from the South Kalimantan provincial administration, the local Kapos daily reported.

"The Tabalong people and administration have determined to proceed with the plan. We must realized it," Tabalong Regent Noor Aidi said.

The railway would stretch from Tabalong to South Barito district in Central Kalimantan and to Pasir district in East Kalimantan.

The investors of the development of the railway is PT Senor Corporation in cooperation with investors from Australia and Germany.

The project is currently under feasibility study process.

Once completed, the railway would help transport coal from Tabalong and South Barito districts to the Pasir district to be exported, and it would also help transport the plantation products from the later area. (*)
