Tabalong legislative council to summon Adaro

Wednesday, February 20 2002 - 01:46 AM WIB

The Tabalong regency legislative council in South Kalimantan will summon coal mining firm PT Adaro Indonesia over coal mining royalty, the local Banjarmasin Post daily reported Wednesday.

The paper quoted deputy speaker of the council, Suriansyah, as saying that the council wanted to hear explanation from Adaro on why Tabalong received a smaller amount of royalty compared to royalty given to the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) regency.

He said that Adaro had previously promised to give an equal amount of royalty to both regencies.

In 2001, Adaro?s coal production share was 49.96 percent, while HSU?s portion was 50.04 percent. Adaro has mining sites in both regencies.(*)
