Tabalong regency prepares rulings to protect investors

Tabalong regency in South Kalimantan is preparing a ruling which will enable the local government to protect investors opening business activities in the regency, Banjarmasin Pos reported on Saturday.

?At present we are still collecting inputs for drafting the regulation,? Antoninan Nyiker, the secretary of the Tabalong administration, said. ?Investors are assets of the local government, and their existence should therefore be protected,? he added.

A number of companies have operated in coal mining activities in the regency. Workers of Pama Persada Nusantara, which handles coal-mining operation of PT Adaro Indonesia, went on strike recently.

Prosperous Labor Union (SBSI) had forced PT Adaro, one the country?s major coal producers, to declare a force majeure to its buyers

Noor Aidi, the Tabalong regent has threatened to expel any labor unions disturbing the activities of companies operating in the regency. (*)
