The Tabalong regency in South Kalimantan is targeting to obtain Rp 20 billion (US$1=Rp 10,700) in coal mining royalty this year, up from Rp 11 billion last year.

Tabalong treasurer Roswan Noviar was quoted by the local Banjarmasin Post daily as saying that he was optimistic the target could be achieved because last year the target was only Rp 5 billion, but the realization totaled Rp 11 billion.

He said that under the current regional autonomy era, the mining royalty did not have to go the central government first in Jakarta but directly to the local administration.(*)
