Taipower sees increased Indonesian coal import

Taiwan state power plant firm Taipower said it would increase coal import to fire its power plants in the island state to 26 million tonnes this year from 24.79MT last year.

Deputy Director Department of Fuels Albert TP Jen said that 22.1MT will be procured through term contracts and the balance from spot market while in 2009 21.4MT procured through term contracts and 3.39MT from spot contracts.

Indonesian coal will contribute about 15.8 million tonnes this year, up from 14.4MT last year, Jen said.

According to Jen, Taipower?s Indonesian largest suppliers are PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Kideco Jaya Agung. (denny)
