Taiwan offers financing scheme for small power plants

Investors from Taiwan grouped in the Indonesia China Cooperative Investment (ICCI) has offered an investment scheme for the construction of small power plants in various regencies in this country, Investor Daily reported on Monday.

Executive director of ICCI, Jusuf Rizal, said that the investment would be provided by Taiwanese investors grouped in ICCI, and each power plant could receive up to US$100 million in investment.

According to him, ICCI has a commitment to providing up to US$1.5 billion in investment in the Indonesian electricity sector as part of the memorandum of understanding signed by Taiwan government and the Indonesian government in 2003.

Jusuf said that about US$500 million of the total investment commitment had been allocated for the establishment of PT Power Jawa Barat, which would build a power plant in Serang, Banten. (*)
