State tin miner PT Timah said its coal-mining subsidiary PT Tanjung Alam Jaya (TAJ) is currently finalizing a deal with Japanese energy trader Mitsubishi to supply 400,000 tons of coal annually starting next year.
“We hope the contract between Tanjung Alam Jaya and Mitsubishi could be signed soon,” Timah president Thobrani Alwi said Tuesday.
Thobrani said coal sales volume could be raised in the next years. “TAJ has planned to increase coal production to around one million tons next year from this year level of 400,000 tons,” Thobrani added.
TAJ operates a 9,721-hectare coal mine in Banjar regency, South Kalimantan, which has mineable reserves of around 10 million tons. (alex)
