The planned 2x100 MW Takalar coal-fired power plant in South Sulawesi is expected to get its coal requirement from mines in Kalimantan.
?The coal will come from Kalimantan, the closest will be from South Kalimantan,? said Helmi Najamudin, Head of Coal Division at state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.
He added that the plant?s coal requirement is estimated at around 800,000 tons per year. A tender will be held to seek for the coal supplier/s.
PLN in March of 2013 signed a contract with China?s Gezhouba Group Co Ltd and Indonesia?s PT Hutama Karya as contractors for the development of the project, which is part of the so-called Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of the Indonesian Economic Development or MP3EI.
According to the government MP3EI update report, the contractors have applied for principal permit for the power plant project in June, and the minister of finance is expected to sign a loan agreement with China?s Exim Bank.
