Talisman, Pertamina, Petronas tipped to win exploration blocks

Government is expected to announce the winners of five exploration blocks that were offered through regular bidding round on Friday, a government source said.
The source said that Canadian oil, gas firm Talisman will be awarded Andaman III block offshore North Sumatra, while Pertamina-Petronas consortium will be awarded West Glagah Kambuna block also offshore North Sumatra. Three other blocks, namely East Bula offshore Seram, Maluku, SE Halmahera-SW Kofiau, offshore South Halmahera and West Papua IV, offshore West Papua will be awarded to Niko Resources-Black Gold Energy consortium.
Government opened the block?s tender in October 2008.
Earlier, a Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources senior official Eddy Hermantoro said only five out of the sixteen blocks offered drew bidders due to global economic crises at the time of the bidding.(godang)
