Talisman plans seismic survey at Andaman III block

Talisman Energy plans to carry out seismic survey at the Andaman III block, in Aceh, in the fourth quarter of this year.

A source told Petromindo.com on Monday that the company is currently seeking for the required permits and preparing to carry out campaign for the planned project.

Early this month, the source added, the company?s management along with officials from upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, and the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA) met with top officials of the Pidie Jaya, Pidi and Bireuen regency administrations in Aceh.

According to the company?s initial commitment, Talisman will carry out a 2,500-sqkm seismic survey and drill one exploration well.

The Andaman III block covers an area of 8,517 sqkm in the water depth of 1,000-1,400 meters. Talisman was awarded the production sharing contract for the Andaman III block in 2009, holding 100 percent interest.
