Talisman's oil, gas production up 19% in Indonesia

Canadian oil, gas firm Talisman Energy said on Tuesday that its oil, gas production in Indonesia averaged 79,000 BOEPD in the third quarter of the year, an increase of 19 percent compared to same period last year and up 2 percent from the previous quarter.

?The gain is largely due to testing the Suban facilities beyond nameplate production capacity in Corridor, and both LNG trains reaching their design capacity in Tangguh,? the company said in quarterly statement report.

Gas production averaged 402 mmcf/d during the quarter due to improved performance of the Suban plant in Corridor. Tangguh, which began production in the third quarter of 2009, contributed 26 mmcf/d to production in the quarter, it said.

The company has a 36 percent non-operated interest in Corridor block and 3.06 percent in Tangguh.

In the Ogan Komering JOB block, in which the company has a 50 percent interest, Talisman said that five of 37 infill wells have been drilled with three wells completed and onstream.

The Jambi Merang project remains on schedule for a mid-2011 startup with two of the three new wells drilled. Negotiations on three gas sales agreements have been finalized and are scheduled to be signed in the fourth quarter of 2010, it said.

On Tuesday, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) announced that its unit PHE Jambi Merang JOB has signed US$577 millions gas supply deals with three customers, including Indonesian unit of US giant Chevron Corp.

PHE said it has also signed GSA with state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero), which will receive most of the gas produced from Jambi Merang block. Gas for PLN will be piped to West Java to help fuel Muara Tawar power plant. According to the release, PLN will receive 85 BBTUD of Jambi Merang gas.

First production at the block is expected to happen on Dec. 10, PHE said.

The Jambi Merang block, which is located onshore South Sumatra, will produce 60 MMCFD of gas in the first phase and the output will be ramped up to 120MMCFD in July 2011.

PHE has a 50 percent interest in Jambi Merang with Talisman Energy and Hong Kong-based firm Pacific Oil & Gas equally own the balance. (denny)
