Canadian firm Talisman Energy has been doing seismic survey on a total area of 500 sq km in Sakakemang PSC in South Sumatra since February of this year, an official of upstream authority SKK Migas said on Thursday.

Sixty percent of the work is 3D survey carried out in a forestry area, for which the firm received a forest utilization license (IPPKH) in May of this year, Tirat S. Ichtijar, SKK Migas? Chief Representative for southern Sumatra told Petromindo.com.

Talisman is now in the phase of recording 2D survey results, which will be followed up with 3D survey.

The survey is expected to be completed at the end of this year, he said.

According to Petromindo.Com data, the exploration block, which is located Corridor and Jambi Merang PSCs onshore South Sumatra, was awarded in 2010 to a local company PT Cakra Nusa Darma. Talisman obtained 90 percent of the interest last year.
