Yusran Cahyo, a senior police officer at the Bangka and Belitung police office, said Friday that Yulimar was arrested because he allowed PT Tambang Timah to carry out exploration activities in mangrove forest area although he already knew that the area was part of productive forests where mining activities were forbidden.
According to the police officer, Yulimar had been warned that the area was part of productive forests where mining activities were prohibited but he continued with the activities in the area.
Besides arresting Yulimar, the police also closed the mining area and confiscated mining equipment. (*)
