Tambang Timah enters e-commerce

The state owned tin mining company PT Tambang Timah will soon enter e-commerce in marketing its products overseas in a bid to cut its overhead costs in marketing activities, Neraca daily reported on Saturday.

The company's finance director Ali Darwin, said on Friday that the tin mining operator would cooperate with PT Mincom Indonesia in preparing the software and solution for the over-the-Internet marketing.

Ali said that the business to business e-commerce would be soon launched to allow overseas buyers directly buy the tin products through the Internet. He added the company's marketing offices overseas would be gradually reduced when the e-commerce system had been successfully implemented.

The e-commerce marketing system, which will be able to cut marketing costs by over 50 percent, will enable buyers all over the world to file their orders in 24 hours, he said. (*)
