Upstream authority BPMIGAS said on Friday the approval process for the plan of further development (PoFD) submitted by BP for its Tangguh LNG project expansion in West Papua is nearing completion.

According to BPMIGAS Deputy for Planning Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja the technical and administrative deliberation on the proposal has been carried out and all are in accordance with existing regulations.

However, there are still a number of issues that require further discussions.

"BP as the operator still needs to clarify several points such as a few cost elements," Widhyawan said.

"Basically we do not want a reduction of state incomes from train 1 and train 2 in Tangguh to occur because of the development of train 3."

BPMIGAS in principle, he added, is ready to approve the proposal once discussion on those issues were completed.
