Tangguh resumes plant operations

BP-operated Tangguh LNG project has resumed operations of its first plant in West Papua, which was suspended early August due to technical problems, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Monday.
Doddy Hidayat, Adviser to BPMIGAS Chairman told Petromindo.Com that the shipment might be resumed next month.
Another BPMIGAS official said BP is also starting up Tangguh?s second train.
?Hopefully, both trains could become fully operational in October,? BPMIGAS spokesperson Amir Hamzah said last week.
Doddy said next shipment might be bound to Fujian, China.
Tangguh will have capacity of 7.6 MTPA when both of the trains operate in full capacity. The plant started shipment of two cargoes of LNG to South Korea and Chinese buyers in July 2009.
The plant has long-term contracts to supply LNG to SK and Posco in South Korea, CNOOC in Fujian, China and Sempra in North America. (godang/bernard)
