Tangguh sends one cargo of LNG to Sempra

The Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua has shipped one cargo of LNG to the LNG terminal in Baja California, Mexico owned by Sempra LNG.

?The shipment occurred in the middle of this month,? Agoes Sapto Raharjo, a section head at oil and gas upstream regulator BPMIGAS, said Tuesday, without providing details.

Including the delivery to Sempra, the newly-built Tangguh has sent three cargoes of LNG. Last month, it sent one cargo to the LNG terminal in Fujian, China owned by CNOOC and another cargo to the LNG terminal in Gwangyang, South Korea owned by giant steel producer POSCO.

The BP Plc-led consortium which owns the Tangguh LNG plant has signed a 20-year LNG purchase agreement with Korean companies POSCO and K-Power for a total of 1.15 million tons of LNG per year.

The consortium has also signed a 25-year contract to supply 2.6 million tons per year of LNG to Fujian terminal; and a flexible contract to supply up to 3.7 million tons of LNG per year to the Sempra LNG terminal

The Tangguh LNG plant consists of two trains, each with a production capacity of 3.8 million tons of LNG per year. The first train began production in June, while the second is expected to begin production later this year.

The plant was recently shut down due to technical problems.

Meanwhile, BPMIGAS? chairman R Priyono said on Tuesday that Indonesia has and will ship a total of 33 cargoes of LNG this month, including one cargo to Sempra from Tangguh; two cargoes to each South Korea and Japan from the Arun LNG plant in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam; three cargoes to South Korea, 20 cargoes to Japan, four cargoes to Taiwan and one cargo to China from the Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan. The shipment from Bontang to China was part of swap agreement with Tangguh. (godang)
