Tangguh to sell LNG to Chubu

Friday, February 5 2010 - 01:37 AM WIB

BP-operated Tangguh LNG will sell 700,000 tonnes of LNG per annum to Chubu Electric Power, a top official at upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday.

BPMIGAS Chairman R. Priyono said that Chubu will buy a portion of LNG shipment that would originally be shipped to Sempra in North America but could be diverted to other market.

Priyono said Tangguh will supply LNG to Chubu for 8 years.

Priyono said that similar deal to supply 1 MTPA of LNG to Korea Gas Corp. (Kogas) collapsed after Kogas pulled out of the deal.

A BPMIGAS senior official said that SPA with Chubu is currently being drafted and is expected to be finalized soon. (godang)
