Tangguh to sign LNG deal with Tohoku

Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS said that Tangguh LNG will soon sign 200,000 TPA LNG contract with Japan?s Tohoku Electric Power Co.

BPMIGAS Chairman Kardaya Warnika said that under the deal BP-operated Tangguh LNG plant would start supplying the LNG in 2008 for 20 years.

Tangguh LNG, which will commence operations in 2008, had bagged contracts to supply 2.6MTPA to Fujian, 1.1 MTPA to South Korea and 3.7MTPA to USA. Tangguh will have designed production capacity of 7.6 MTPA but can be expanded to 8MTPA, according to industry source. (alex)
