Tangguh to start LNG shipment this week

BP-operated tangguh LNG project in West Papua will start first cargo shipment to its customer this week, a senior official at oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday.

?If things runs smoothly, first shipment will be launched this week,? he said. He did not give details.

A source said that shipment will likely be conducted on July 4 with South Korean firm POSCO as first receiver.

Tangguh is contracted to supply LNG to South Korea, China and West Coast of North America.

Meanwhile, a report said that US gas distributor Sempra Energy said it would start receiving LNG from Tangguh by the end of September. (godang)
